RAFPA VICE - CHAIRMAN ATTENDS WESTON SUPER MARE ARMED FORCES AND VETERANS DAY CHURCH SERVICE.

The Association Vice Chairman was invited to attend the Armed Forces and Veterans Service at Emmanuel Church West super Mare,Somerset at 10.00 hrs on Sunday 28 June 2009 and parade the Aden Veterans South West Branch Standard-he is Chairman of the Somerset AVA SW Grp.Many service standards (8) were on parade including the RBL(3), RAFA,ATC,Parachute Regt and the AVA SW standard.

The service was attended by the Mayor of WSM ,Cllr Dr Mike Kellaway-Marriott and the Mayoress Carmela Bianca De Kellaway,
,the WSM MP, The RH John Penrose ,MP, Shadow Minister Business,Enterprise and Regulatory Reform,Chairman of the RBL Somerset, Chairman of the RAFA WSM,local magistrates (including the association V-C)and several serving members of HM Forces.

A packed church was led in prayers and song by the Rev Keith Hallett, RBL Chaplin (Ex-RAF), ably assisted by the Rev Keith Berry-Davies (Wg Cmdr), RAFA Chaplin and a guard of honour was provided by the WSM ATC Sqn.

During the service the Vice Chairman led the Act of Remembrance statements followed by the exhortations read out by the Chairman of the RBL,WSM.A collection was made for the Earl Haig Poppy Appeal and after the service all the congregation enjoyed a very welcomed cup of refreshment in the very hot church and cafe area which by then had risen to over 27 degrees C !.
