To all of our friends at the RAF Police Association.

On behalf of all RAF Police (and of course Provost Officers), currently serving in Afghanistan, I would like to send back a big heart felt ‘thank you’ to all those who kindly sent out comfort boxes to us in theatre.

The RAF Police are currently serving in some of the most demanding areas of Afghanistan, undertaking duties which are making a real difference to the operational effort here.  The kindness shown by those Association members in UK brings us cheer and a welcome respite from routine; or what we know as Ground Hog Day.

The boxes that you all sent during December were held over in order that we could hand them out on Christmas Eve.  Trying to get as many RAFP together at one time for a hand out proved difficult due to operations but, as the photo shows, we managed to collate a few.

The opening of comfort boxes brings anticipation, delight, surprise and a little disbelief.  How do you get to fit so much within a 2Kg box?!

Your boxes made a real difference to the moral of all here this Christmas and on behalf of all RAF Police here in Afghanistan and indeed everywhere ‘Thank You’ and God bless you.

And Finally: …….. A big thank you to all those who sent Xmas Cake laced with copulas amounts of Brandy and Sherry; moreover, those with miniature bottles of spirits hidden inside, how thoughtful……… What, didn’t everyone get one!  Shush…………!!

Flt Lt Marcus Capell & FS Stew Coppard during a visit to the Convoy Soak Point.  Convoy lorry drivers (Pakistani Nationals) are checked by RAFP using portable Biometric Iris and Finger print scanners.  Any local or third country nationals caught for any offence including acts of terrorism are placed on the system and these checks help to enforce the security of forces serving in theatre.
