·         ·         26th & 27th June 2010 – Armed Forces Weekend in Southport.  North West Area Branch will be ‘recruiting’ on 27th June, their 3rd year in attendance.

 

I have been chasing up with the organisers for more information on the Veterans Day events in Southport over the weekend of 26 & 27 June.  It now seems that the main events will be taking place on Saturday 26th, with a carnival through town ending up at Princes Park where there will be static displays – and hopefully where we will be! Please note that this is a different venue to last year.  This is the information I have at the moment: 

SOUTHPORT VETERANS DAY CHARITY CARNIVAL

 

Saturday the 26th June

 

Assembles 1100hrs on Knowsley Road, Sets off 1200hrs

 

Lead by the Duke of Lancaster Band, Manchester and Salford University Squadron, Cadet Force, 156 Transport Regt; Army Vintage Vehicles, Veterans Bus, Byng House and the Winged Fellowship. Many charity floats and displays follow behind.

 

The parade end on Princes Park where activities, associations, charities and trade stalls will be set up including paintball, field hospital and assault course.

 

 

On the Sunday there is a parade, forming up at 1000hrs on Chapel Street and marching off at 1020hrs down London St to the cenotaph.
