Photographs of the first Police School in Germany at Bad Meinberg prior to it moving to Buckeberg later in 1946.  In those days, he writes, they were obliged to carry their Smith and Wesson revolvers even off duty as there were still fanatical elements of Hitler Youth on the scene.

Photo.   I served in the Home Guard at Seend, Devizes. Wiltshire in 1944 prior to volunteering for R.A.F. service in 1945 in order to obtain release from my reserved occupation as Farm pupil, a career with few prospects at the time.
