My father in law is 94. During WWII he was, as a Flt Lt, the officer commanding a small RAF holding unit 'somewhere' in the westcountry receiving brand new aircraft from the factories and then sending them out to the Squadrons. He told me (when he was able to remember) that he had one of the very first dog sections in the RAF under his command. The name of the Station is lost in his memories but he had this wonderful photo which I am proud to be able to put on the site. They were not policemen but 'erks'  - ancestors of the RAFP(QPD)!
